I did some actual work on my top 5 last night, so you can expect that (actually) soon. In the mean time, I’d like to honor some of my favorite 15-minutes-or-less hardcore records from this year. The main list was mostly for “full length” albums, an admittedly arbitrary distinction that I will probably do away with if I do a list next year. It’s a pretty anti-hardcore policy. Anyway, I hope this will satiate some of you that are waiting for the big 5. (Disclaimer: Like any good hardcore list, this one contains a certain regional bias)
1. Raw Nerve - Midnight
One of my favorite hardcore bands working right now. This EP is seriously nuts.
2. RazorXFade S/T
These guys sure grew a lot in a couple of years.
3. Vile Gash - Deluded
I am probably lame for putting two Youth Attack records on here, but whatever. This is a delight.
4. Vaccine - Crimes in Blood
What a great band. Also, at two minutes and eleven seconds, this is by far the shortest entry on this list.
5. Weekend Nachos - Black Earth
Stronger than Worthless.
